Yesterday left me in a flurry of confusion. It's very vivid. When we reached the hotel, i mingled a little with the crowd before feeling slightly ill. Since Hasaru san had booked a suite for people who went swimming to take turns and have hot baths, i decided to head into one of the rooms. One by one the guests filtered out and i was left alone. I didn't mind. I liked the quiet. The room was big, and it had windows from the ceiling to the floor, which was a dark red carpeting. I sat on the bed for awhile before moving to the window, which had a view of the pool. I made out faces, even in the darkness, because the pool was well lit in the night, and i could see everyone. A few of my friends were chatting amongst themselves by the pool seats, and even though i saw Yuki san, i couldn't see Raiga. Then Raiga came into the room.
Raiga: Hey, Hatori. Me: Hello Raiga. Why aren't you outside with Yuki san? Raiga: ...Why do i always have to be with her? Me: Because Yuki san is your girlfriend?
Raiga didn't respond. This was unlike him, as he usually retorted everything i said, and when he had nothing to say, he would punch me on the shoulder, something i was accustomed to. I walked over.
Me: Raiga, are you alright?
Raiga held my hand for a few minutes, looking out of the window. Then he sat down on the bed.
Raiga: No.
He began to cry. I didn't let go of his hand. He was shaking quite alot.
Raiga: Yuki is no longer my girlfriend. She was secretly was going out with Fuuji. Me: Fuuji san is a... san. A girl. Raiga: That didn't change her mind.
I didn't know what to say. Raiga rolled his eyes.
Raiga: You have the symphathetic awareness of a wall, you know that? Me: I'm sorry, Raiga. I just... I don't know what to say. Raiga: I'm going to go.
Raiga stood up to leave. I didn't know if he was going to go back to the dorm or if he was going to simply leave the room to mingle with the rest. I decided to go with him. Raiga was in no fit condition to even hail a car, let alone drive one.
Me: Raiga, give me your car keys. Raiga: ... I'm going to head out. Me: Out? Out where? Raiga: ... I don't know. Me: I'll drive you. I don't want you to kill yourself, Raiga.
Inside the car, i didn't know where we were going. I looked at Raiga. He didn't seem to know either. I started the engine. Out of the hotel carpark was the best bet for now. I kept glancing at Raiga. He looked so helpless and sad. I did not know what to do. Once we were on the street outside, Raiga turned his head.
Raiga: The others were counting on this car for a ride back to the school. Me: They can get a cab. You, on the other hand, cannot. They will manage somehow. Where do you want to go? Raiga: ... Anywhere.
I drove along the roads till we came to somewhere farmiliar. I took to the town side of Singapore, and we got out at one of the shopping malls. Raiga refused to let go of my hand. So i didn't let go of his. He had on a look as though he were interested, but i knew he was only putting on a brave face because his hand tightened on mine everytime we passed somewhere Yuki and he must have gone to before. [I will no longer bereferring to her with an honorific as she has lost my respect.] We passed by a shop called Yellow.
Raiga: Hatori, did you pierce your ear? Me: Yes, but my right side closed up. Raiga: Why? Me: I suppose i let it. I was out with a pair, but the right one dropped out and i could not be bothered to replace it. The piercing closed up soon after.
Raiga took me into the shop and asked if i wanted to get it done again. I did not refuse him. It might not be a good thing if i refused him while he was in such a mood. He watched them and made sure the equipment was sterilised properly first. Raiga had experience in Tokyo, with piercing guns and the like. He said that they had not sterilised it properly the first time, and only after 10 minutes, he was satisfied, and the piercing took place. As the needle went through my earlobe, i gripped Raiga's hand. Although i apologised, i don't believe he minded it much. Later on, after i went out, Raiga had bought me an earring.
Raiga: For your right ear. Me: You didn't have to. The earrings here cost alot. Raiga: It doesn't matter, just wear it, ok? Me: ...
I didn't answer Raiga, and i slipped the earring into my tuxedo pocket. Both of us were still ridiculously formally dressed, but neither minded. Well, i didn't. He didn't look like he cared. But then again, Raiga had a way of behaving differently from the way he thought. Soon after that, I could see Raiga was tired, and i took him back to the dorm. Today, he looked much better, but i know he really loved Yuki, and he must feel terrible inside. I feel terrible for him. And on that night, i remembered he asked me to wear the earring. I took it out of my desk drawer.
My ear was bleeding a little, but i wore Raiga's earring.
